Setup and Troubleshooting VMPRO Windows to Windows Network Share for Recording Library

Summary

This article covers the steps on how to add Administrator permissions to the Chronicall Recording Library Service so it doesn't have any issues pulling from the VRL network share folder on the VMPRO server.

• NOTE:  Xima technicians do not set up the network share for the VRL folder.  You will need to contact your Network Administrator to share the VRL folder over the network so the Chronicall Recording Library server can see the VRL folder over the network, and pull files from it. 
• A good way to verify the folder is shared, is to see if you can hit the VRL network path from the Recording Libraries server via file explorer
• NOTE:  The monitored directory needs to be set to the full file path of the shared folder
  • As an example, I had the folder \\xx.xx.xx.xx\VRL shared to the network as the Z:\ drive, so it could be accessed by the RL. In order to actually have it accessed though, the monitored directory needed to be set to \\10.10.10.10\c$\Program Files (x86)\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\VRL
    • Setting it to anything else, such as "Z:\" or "\\xx.xx.xx.xx\VRL" caused the RL to give a red error in the home screen bell and fail to run

This is an alternate solution to the Windows to Windows FTP article, as with this method of sharing .wav files from VMPRO to Chronicall Recording Library, we are just sharing the VRL folder over a network share for Recording Library to access and pull files directly from the VRL folder.

You will also want to ensure the VRL folder on the VMPRO server has appropriate permissions for all your users, so the Recording Library service can properly read and edit the .wav files in the VRL on the VMPRO server as covered below.

Steps To Add Credentials To The Recording Library Service

1. Find the Chronicall Recording Library Service in Windows services
   
   
   
   
2. Right click on it and select Properties
   
   
   
   
3. Select the Log On tab, and then This Account via the bullet point
   
   
   
   
4. Have your Administrator enter their admin credentials and password so the Chronicall Recording Library service has full access to the network share it needs to reach out to and pull from and/or modify

How To Add Permissions To The VRL Folder

1. Navigate to the VRL folder on your Windows VMPRO server.  This will be where the VMPRO is currently storing the .wav audio recordings
   • Program Files (x86)/Avaya/vmpro
   • Program Files/Avaya/vmpro
2. Right click on the VRL folder, and select properties
   
   
   
   
3. Here we will edit the permissions for Everyone so that the Chronicall Recording Library service is able to access and edit the recordings.
   1. First click on the Security tab
   2. The select Everyone from the list of Groups or User Names
   3. Select Edit.  Apply full permissions to these users
   4. Select Apply
      
      
      
      
4. Now go back to the Chronicall Recording Library server and restart the Chronicall Recording Library service
5. Navigate to the Limbo folder in the Chronicall Recording Library server to ensure we are pulling over audio recordings, assuming the VRL has .wav files to process.  You should see files start to populate if we have recordings to pull
