Recording Encryption

The Recording Library has the option to store recordings as encrypted files. When enabled, the recording files will be encrypted. These encrypted recordings are only playable through Chronicall's interface.

We currently encrypt the recordings using an algorithm that makes use of a combination of Password Based Encryption (PBE), the MD5 cryptographic hash function, and the Data Encryption Standard (DES) cryptography algorithm.

You can enable encryption in the Recording Configuration. The options are:

  • Store all unencrypted =  All recordings will be stored with no encryption.
  • Store only new unencrypted = All recordings from the point you save this setting will be unencrypted.
  • Store all encrypted = All recordings will be stored as encrypted.
  • Store only new encrypted = All recordings from the point you save this setting will be encrypted.
